WHAT ARE MINIATURE HORSES?

They are affectionate, gentle, easily trained and ideal family pets and companions. They are valued for their good disposition, trainability and especially their small size.

The care required for these pint sized equines is basically the same as for regular sized horses – only the cost of their care and feeding is considerably less! Their feet require trimming on a regular basis – but shoes are not necessary. Normal vaccines on an annual basis (just like big horses) are recommended. They also need the same regimen of twice daily feeding and routine worming just as their larger counterparts require. Though they do not need a large area for their pasture (and will be very happy in your back yard), they should have shelter for stormy weather and plenty of room to run and play. The miniatures are too small to ride but they are quite strong and are easily trained to pull a cart or a wagon. There are many shows all over the United States where the minis appear in a variety of classes, including pleasure driving and roadster, obstacle classes, jumping and of course halter classes where they judge conformation.
